welcome aboard: Shore leave.....?
welcome aboard: Shore leave.....?: Shore leave?what the hell is it? this is the favorite word of the crew...its mean time to go....to see the word.. well you can go out from...
Ocean liner or River cruise?
Well..both are the same things...same job..same rules...maybe some part you will like in ocean liner..but maybe some part you will hate it.The point is ..is up to you..anywhere you go between those...you have to work..thats it :).
Ocean liner...we call this for a big ship with capacity of plenty people..more than 600 people on board...and usually it travel on the sea....and of course with a lot of crew.
River cruise is a small ship with capacity of 100 up to 200 passanger only and with up to 50 crew on board, sailing only on the river, you will find most of river cruise in europe.
Both of those ship have their own regulation n laws...and job description that you have to follow,so if you think one is better than others...the choice is up to you.
carnival cruiseline
NCL
Disney cruiseline
Princess cruiseline
AIDA
river cruise in germany
viking river cruise
Avalon waterways
In the ocean liner you will have more facilities for the crew...you have crew bar, crew mess, crew laundry, crew recreation area, crew pools, etc. But in the River cruise its not possible to have all facilities coz of the space are limited so for the crew they only have crew mess as a place to relax beside the cabin, but the land are so close,so the city, the cafe, the bar, sometimes is just in front of the gang way...you will feel like you re working in the land. And of course because its river..its a smoth sailing..no wave....Coz in the ocean liner you will feel how is it seasick..and big wave..especially during the hurricane. But you will see more of the world if you re in the ocean liner..from north pole to south pole...from asia to america..all over the world.
So wherever you working at..just enjoy it..Have fun :)

Shore leave.....?
Shore leave?what the hell is it?
this is the favorite word of the crew...its mean time to go....to see the word..
well you can go out from the ship on your break time...or if the ship stay over night, you can go out to the bar or pub or to having fun with friends...
usually the crew use their time for shopping...having lunch or dinner outside...go to the beach or just walk around..to see new place.....
usually in caribian itinerary cozumel is the fav place to go out....for food ...coz they have a very good fresh seafood, for asian crew this place is the best for food....and the price is quite cheap if you compare with other carribian island,Other place that became favorite in caribian is st martin n st thomas...
Also in hawaii cruise..its all about food and shopping and adventure..try to see hawaii by helicopter..or rent a limousine...and shopping...most of the crew love shopping..especially shoppng for the latest gadget....
If you like to gamble...aruba is the an island with a lot of casino in carribian, also in rusia, most of the gambler they will love st pettersburg, where the ship dock if they have scandinavia cruise.
And a lot of beautifull view and building that you will find in europe..so many things to see, thats why..if you have free time try to explore outside..taking picture in every corner of the world..
river cruise that sailing in danube river
cannes france, usually the ship will stop not too far from the beach, and all passanger and crew will use tender boat to reach the land.
copenhagen, demark, you need a taxi to go to the city
cozumel,mexico
port of miami, you need a taxi or shuttle van to reach the downtown
river cruise,in germany
st marteen,carribian
amsterdam,Netherland
singapore
Some of the port you will need to use tender boat coz not all the country have a port to docking, usually in some small island in carribian also in some country in mediteranian, and other small island.
So if you re have a time to explore the world go and dont forget to take a picture and upload in social media.
Have fun guys :)

Work..work..work
And how is the working hours in cruise ship?
Dont compare it with a normal working hour with normal people on the land..8 hours and off for weekend?
Dont even think about it..dont even dream about it...nobody normal on board..ha ha ha ha
Usually its 10 hour or more a day..and continuosly until you finish your contract.
And how long is your contract?depend 6,8,10 months....This is for crew in general,we re not talking with the officer coz they have different contract. So before you join the ship you have to prepare your body and mind for this condition.
But dont be stress in some company if you're lucky you will have bfast off, lunch off or dinner off (for the one who working in the restaurant),in the river cruise some company give their crew 1 day off for special condition.Thats why dont you think working in the cruise ship is an easy job...its looks nice to see the picture of the crew all over the world...but when you re talking about the job and working hours...its not easy. But if you' re use to it..its not a big deal....just a piece of cake...it just hard in the beginning :).
Thats why to have fun after working hour its really necessary..dont just stay on board..go out if you have time off...to see the world..to see outside the ship..enjoying the local food..try something new outside....
If youre just sleep and work.and sleep...and work..for sure you will be crazy.
All department have their own pressure..like the one in the galley/kitchen their pressure is different with the one in the restaurant..and also the one in the housekeeping...everybody have their own stress. But job is job..you have to do it..coz the company pay you for it...so prepare some vitamin and medicine..coz you will need it on board......Enjoy your working hours on board :)

Safety First.....
Hmmm..you will see this sign all over the ship..safety first...this word will make you sick at the first..but you will realize thats really important when you re in the real emergency....
Thats why usually bfore join the ship most of all the crw have their safety certificate like BST (basic safety training)...the basic things that you re need in emergency.
For the passanger also they have their passanger drill, usually the ship will doing drill after the ships sailing, for passanger its not so complicated like the crew..just the simple one,how to put on the life jacket, where to go in the emergency, and what to do in emergency, everybody have their own muster station,a place where you have to assembly in case of emergency.
All the crew on board have teir own duty during the emergency,so the safety officer will give you a safety card with your duty on it.And you will have training if you have special duty..usually if you re on duty in the emergency team, like fire team, first aid team and also the boat team.
And you have to attend the training...or you will get a warning letter...if you have 3 of it and bye bye...:)
Emergency drill will happen once in a cruise..usually during your working hour.and its really annoying sometimes for the crew..but you cant run away from it...only some people will have excuse with this drill.
So forget about your job or what ever you do..even if you re sleeping..you have to run and dont forget to bring your life jacket with you.
For the ship that having port in USA they have more stict drill coz the USA coast guard will doing inspection during the cruise..and you re never know when n where..so be ready..

Time to eat
well where to go for food?
there is a crew mess on board....the place where the crew can eat or just to relax with friends...
In the big ship there are some type of messroom..crew mess for crew..officer mess for officer and staff mess for staff..but in the small ship..especially in the river cruise its only one mess room...
Some mess room seperated between smokin and no smoking area..so its up too you where do you want to sit...and its totally busy in opening time.especially for lunch and dinner.....so when its a meal time..dont stay too long..just leave after you eat....give other some space to eat....
But after meal hours..this place is quite cozy to hang out with friends..for chit chat..gossiping and others staff...coz in your cabin you re not really have space to do all those things....and maybe you' re room mate are sleeping...just dont make mess too much here...clean as you re go....
